Which companies sponsor visas for nursing assistants in Ohio?
Large hospital systems are the most active sponsors for nursing assistant roles in Ohio. Cleveland Clinic, OhioHealth, the MetroHealth System, and UC Health have histories of sponsoring international healthcare workers. Long-term care operators and skilled nursing facility networks, including those affiliated with national chains, also sponsor nursing assistants, particularly where staffing shortages are most acute.
Which visa types are most common for nursing assistant roles in Ohio?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for nursing assistants in Ohio, as the role is classified as a skilled or unskilled occupation under the third preference category. Some employers also use the H-2B visa for temporary or seasonal positions. Nursing assistants typically cannot qualify for H-1B sponsorship, as the role does not generally meet the specialty occupation requirement.
Which cities in Ohio have the most nursing assistant sponsorship jobs?
Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati account for the largest share of nursing assistant sponsorship activity in Ohio, driven by their concentration of major hospital systems and long-term care facilities. Smaller cities like Dayton, Akron, and Toledo also have meaningful demand, particularly through regional health systems and nursing home networks serving aging populations in those metro areas.
How to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs filtered specifically to Ohio. The platform aggregates roles where employers have an established pattern of sponsoring international workers, saving you from manually screening hundreds of listings. Search by role and state to surface Ohio-based nursing assistant positions from hospital systems, long-term care facilities, and staffing groups actively hiring internationally.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for nursing assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio requires nursing assistants to hold a valid state certification through the Ohio Nurse Aide Registry before starting work. International candidates should factor in the time needed to obtain certification, as employers generally require it before or shortly after hire. Ohio's large proportion of elderly residents means long-term care facilities have sustained hiring demand, which has contributed to employer willingness to pursue sponsorship for qualified candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing assistant jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
