Which companies sponsor visas for nursing assistants in Iowa?
UnityPoint Health, MercyOne, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Genesis Health System are among the larger Iowa healthcare employers with international hiring track records. Long-term care operators and nursing home chains with multiple Iowa locations also sponsor nursing assistants, particularly where local workforce shortages are persistent in rural and mid-sized communities.
Which visa types are most common for nursing assistant roles in Iowa?
The EB-3 immigrant visa is the most common pathway for nursing assistants, as it covers skilled and unskilled workers and allows employer-sponsored permanent residency. Some employers use the H-2B visa for temporary positions, though that category has annual caps and is less common in healthcare. Candidates already in the U.S. on other status may also adjust through employer-sponsored EB-3 petitions.
Which cities in Iowa have the most nursing assistant sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines has the highest concentration of nursing assistant sponsorship opportunities, driven by its large hospital systems and growing senior care facilities. Cedar Rapids and Iowa City are also active markets, with Iowa City anchored by the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Davenport, as part of the Quad Cities metro, adds additional demand through Genesis Health System and affiliated long-term care providers.
How to find nursing assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate lets you filter nursing assistant jobs specifically to Iowa and see which employers are open to visa sponsorship. This saves significant time compared to manually reviewing postings. Iowa has active hiring across hospital systems, nursing homes, and rehabilitation facilities, so filtering by state on Migrate Mate surfaces relevant openings that match both the role and sponsorship requirement.
Are there state-specific considerations for nursing assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Iowa?
Iowa requires nursing assistants to hold a valid CNA certification, which means passing a state-approved competency exam before practicing. International candidates typically need to verify their credentials meet Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing standards. Iowa's rural healthcare shortage areas can make sponsorship more accessible, as employers in underserved regions face greater difficulty filling positions through domestic hiring alone.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored nursing assistant jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
