Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor visas in Missouri?
Major visa sponsors in Missouri's aerospace sector include Boeing (St. Louis headquarters), Honeywell Aerospace (Kansas City), General Dynamics, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin subsidiaries. These companies regularly file H-1B visa petitions for engineers, software developers, and technical specialists. Smaller defense contractors and suppliers throughout the state also sponsor visas, particularly for specialized roles in avionics, systems engineering, and cybersecurity.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Missouri?
Use Migrate Mate to browse aerospace and defense positions specifically filtered for Missouri employers who sponsor work visas. The platform shows which companies have sponsored visas previously and tracks current openings at Boeing, Honeywell, and other defense contractors. Focus your search on St. Louis and Kansas City metro areas where most aerospace employers are concentrated, and check regularly as defense contract awards can create sudden hiring needs.
Which visa types are most common for aerospace & defense roles in Missouri?
H-1B visas dominate Missouri aerospace sponsorship, particularly for engineering roles at Boeing and software positions at defense contractors. L-1 visas are common for international transfers within global aerospace companies. O-1 visas occasionally appear for researchers at aerospace facilities, while TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers. Some positions may require security clearances, which limits visa options but creates opportunities for cleared international professionals.
Which cities in Missouri have the most aerospace & defense sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis leads with Boeing's global headquarters and extensive defense manufacturing operations, generating the highest volume of visa sponsorships. Kansas City follows with Honeywell Aerospace and multiple defense contractors. Springfield has smaller aerospace suppliers, while Columbia benefits from University of Missouri research partnerships with defense contractors. The St. Louis-Kansas City corridor contains approximately 85% of Missouri's aerospace visa sponsorship opportunities.
Do Missouri aerospace jobs require security clearances for visa holders?
Many Missouri aerospace positions, especially at Boeing's defense divisions and other contractors, require security clearances that are typically unavailable to non-citizens on temporary visas. However, significant opportunities exist in commercial aerospace, unclassified research, and supplier companies that don't require clearances. Some employers sponsor visas for roles that may become clearance-eligible after naturalization, creating long-term career paths for international professionals.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
