Which companies in Missouri sponsor visas for IT engineers?
World Wide Technology in St. Louis is one of Missouri's largest IT employers and has a history of sponsoring H-1B visas for engineering roles. Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in Kansas City, Mastercard's technology hub in O'Fallon, and Edward Jones in St. Louis County also appear in federal H-1B disclosure data as regular sponsors for IT engineering positions.
Which visa types are most common for IT engineer roles in Missouri?
The H-1B is the most common visa for IT engineers in Missouri, as most software, systems, and network engineering roles qualify as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical field. Candidates already holding L-1 visa intracompany transferee status or TN visa status (for Canadian and Mexican nationals) also fill IT engineering positions at Missouri employers without entering the H-1B lottery.
Which cities in Missouri have the most IT engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
St. Louis accounts for the largest share of IT engineer sponsorship activity in Missouri, driven by its concentration of technology firms, financial services companies, and healthcare IT employers. Kansas City is the second-largest market, anchored by Oracle Health and a growing fintech sector. Smaller clusters exist in Columbia, home to University of Missouri-affiliated technology operations, and O'Fallon, where Mastercard has a significant engineering presence.

Are there any Missouri-specific considerations for IT engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Missouri's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are determined by the Department of Labor and reflect local wage levels, which in St. Louis and Kansas City tend to be lower than coastal tech markets. This can make Missouri employers more competitive on sponsored compensation relative to similarly leveled roles in California or New York. University of Missouri and Washington University in St. Louis also generate a pipeline of OPT-eligible international graduates that many Missouri IT employers are familiar with sponsoring through to H-1B status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it engineer jobs in Missouri?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
