Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor visas in Nebraska?
Major visa sponsors in Nebraska include Northrop Grumman, Boeing Defense, Lockheed Martin, and Raytheon, primarily around Omaha and Lincoln. Defense contractors supporting Offutt Air Force Base and the Strategic Command headquarters frequently file H-1B petitions for software engineers, systems analysts, and cybersecurity specialists with security clearance eligibility.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for aerospace and defense roles in Nebraska that offer visa sponsorship. Filter by location (Omaha, Lincoln, Bellevue) and focus on positions requiring security clearance eligibility, as these employers are more experienced with the visa process and government compliance requirements.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most aerospace & defense sponsorship jobs?
Omaha leads with the highest concentration due to Offutt Air Force Base and Strategic Command operations, followed by Lincoln with its defense research facilities. Bellevue, home to the base itself, offers technical and engineering positions. These three metro areas account for over 85% of Nebraska's defense industry visa sponsorships.
Which visa types are most common for aerospace & defense roles in Nebraska?
H-1B visas dominate for engineering and technical roles, particularly for software developers and systems engineers. O-1 visas are used for senior researchers and defense technology specialists. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers, while E-3 visas accommodate Australian nationals in cybersecurity and aerospace engineering positions.
Do aerospace & defense jobs in Nebraska require security clearance for visa holders?
Many positions require security clearance eligibility, which means you must be a U.S. person (citizen or permanent resident). However, entry-level engineering roles, commercial aerospace projects, and unclassified research positions are available to visa holders. Focus on commercial aviation, satellite technology, and non-classified defense contractor work.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
