Which accounting companies sponsor Green Card visas in Nebraska?
National public accounting firms with Nebraska offices, including Deloitte, KPMG, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Grant Thornton, have established Green Card sponsorship programs for qualifying staff. Large Nebraska-headquartered corporations such as Mutual of Omaha, Berkshire Hathaway subsidiaries, and Union Pacific also sponsor permanent residency for accounting professionals in senior or specialized roles. Regional CPA firms occasionally sponsor Green Cards for candidates with specialized credentials or hard-to-fill expertise.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is by far Nebraska's primary market for accounting Green Card sponsorship, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 companies, Big Four offices, and major insurance and financial services employers. Lincoln, the state capital, offers secondary opportunities through government contractors, university-affiliated organizations, and regional accounting firms. Smaller markets like Grand Island or Kearney rarely generate employer-sponsored permanent residency for accounting roles.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles that most commonly qualify include licensed CPAs, external and internal auditors, tax managers, financial controllers, and forensic accountants. Employers typically sponsor Green Cards for positions requiring specialized credentials, advanced degrees, or several years of experience that are difficult to fill domestically. Entry-level bookkeeping or general accounting clerk positions rarely receive Green Card sponsorship, as they do not typically meet the PERM labor certification threshold for specialty qualification.
How do I find accounting Green Card sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for accounting roles in Nebraska where employers have a verified Green Card sponsorship history, saving you from applying to companies that do not support permanent residency. Because PERM labor certification filings are a matter of public record through DOL, Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have actively sponsored accounting professionals, so you can focus your search on firms with a real track record of supporting Green Card cases in this state.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for accounting Green Card sponsorship?
Nebraska does not have a state-level immigration program, so all Green Card sponsorship for accounting roles follows federal PERM labor certification requirements. However, Nebraska's relatively lower cost of living compared to coastal markets can affect the prevailing wage DOL requires employers to pay sponsored workers, which accounting professionals can verify using the OFLC Wage Search tool. Nebraska employers in regulated industries like insurance must also ensure sponsored roles meet both federal immigration and state professional licensing standards for CPAs.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card accounting jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
