Tips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Nebraska
Target PERM-heavy industries first
Nebraska's food processing, meatpacking, and healthcare sectors file PERM labor certifications at higher rates than most other industries in the state. Focusing your search on these sectors increases your odds of finding employers already experienced with the Green Card process.
Look beyond Omaha and Lincoln
Rural Nebraska employers in Grand Island, Lexington, and Schuyler sponsor Green Cards regularly through meatpacking and agricultural processing operations. These employers often face genuine labor shortages, which strengthens their ability to demonstrate PERM eligibility to the Department of Labor.
Identify employers with a PERM filing history
Employers who have sponsored Green Cards before are far more likely to do so again. Search the Department of Labor's OFLC disclosure data to verify which Nebraska companies have filed PERM applications, then prioritize those in your job search on Migrate Mate.
Understand the EB-2 and EB-3 distinction before applying
Most Nebraska sponsorship roles fall under EB-3 for skilled workers, especially in processing and healthcare support. If your role requires an advanced degree or you qualify for a National Interest Waiver, EB-2 may apply. Knowing which category fits your background helps you target the right openings.
Use Migrate Mate to filter by sponsorship willingness
Not every Nebraska job posting discloses Green Card sponsorship upfront. Migrate Mate filters jobs by verified sponsorship availability, saving you from applying to roles where the employer has no history or intention of supporting permanent residence petitions.
Factor in priority date backlogs by nationality
Green Card timelines in Nebraska depend heavily on your birth country and the employment-based preference category. Workers born in India or China face significantly longer waits in EB-2 and EB-3. Confirm your priority date outlook before accepting a role where sponsorship is the primary immigration pathway.

Which industries in Nebraska sponsor the most Green Cards?
Food processing, meatpacking, and healthcare sponsor the most Green Cards in Nebraska. Companies in beef and pork processing regularly file PERM labor certifications for production and skilled trades roles. Healthcare employers in hospitals and long-term care facilities also sponsor consistently, particularly for registered nurses and physical therapists.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Omaha has the highest concentration of sponsoring employers, led by healthcare systems, technology firms, and professional services companies. Lincoln is the second-largest market, with university-affiliated employers and state government contractors. Grand Island, Lexington, and Schuyler are smaller cities but are notable for high-volume PERM filings tied to meat processing plants.
What types of roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Nebraska?
Roles in EB-3 skilled worker categories dominate Nebraska sponsorship, including registered nurses, physical therapists, engineers, and food processing supervisors. EB-2 positions tend to be concentrated in technology, healthcare management, and research roles tied to Omaha's corporate sector and university institutions. Unskilled positions in processing operations are also sponsored under EB-3 other worker classifications.
How do I find Green Card sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card, so you can search Nebraska openings without manually screening out employers who won't sponsor. Pairing that with a review of OFLC PERM disclosure data gives you a clear picture of which Nebraska employers have an established track record of supporting permanent residence petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
