Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Nebraska?
Kiewit Corporation, headquartered in Omaha, is Nebraska's most prominent construction employer with a history of sponsoring international workers for permanent residence. Other active sponsors include Lund-Ross Constructors and Hawkins Construction. Larger national firms with Nebraska operations, such as Turner Construction and PCL Construction, also sponsor Green Cards, typically for civil engineers, project managers, and specialty trade supervisors.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Omaha accounts for the majority of construction Green Card sponsorship activity in Nebraska, driven by its concentration of large contractors, commercial development, and infrastructure projects. Lincoln, the state capital, is the second most active market, particularly for public works and institutional construction. Smaller markets like Bellevue and Grand Island occasionally have sponsored roles tied to industrial and transportation infrastructure projects.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Nebraska?
Employers most commonly sponsor Green Cards for roles that require a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field, including civil engineers, structural engineers, project managers, construction managers, and estimators. Roles requiring professional licensure, such as a licensed Professional Engineer, strengthen sponsorship cases. Skilled trade positions without a degree requirement are less commonly sponsored through employment-based Green Card categories, though EB-3 unskilled worker pathways exist.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international workers seeking visa sponsorship, including Green Card-sponsored construction roles in Nebraska. You can filter by state, visa type, and industry to find verified sponsorship opportunities with Nebraska contractors and engineering firms. Searching Migrate Mate for Nebraska construction roles allows you to focus your applications on employers who have explicitly indicated willingness to sponsor permanent residence.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in construction in Nebraska?
Nebraska does not have state-level immigration sponsorship programs, so all Green Card sponsorship goes through federal employment-based categories, primarily EB-2 and EB-3. Nebraska's construction sector is influenced by agricultural infrastructure, transportation, and energy projects, which can create consistent demand in regions outside the major cities. PERM labor certification, the required first step for most employment-based Green Cards, requires employers to document that no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
