Which construction companies sponsor Green Card visas in Colorado?
Several large general contractors and engineering firms operating in Colorado have a documented history of sponsoring Green Cards, including Hensel Phelps (headquartered in Greeley), Mortenson Construction, Kiewit, and PCL Construction. Larger firms typically have dedicated HR and immigration departments that manage the PERM labor certification process, making them more likely to sponsor than smaller regional subcontractors.
Which cities in Colorado have the most construction Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Denver and its metro area, including Aurora, Lakewood, and Thornton, account for the largest share of sponsored construction roles in Colorado, driven by ongoing commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects. Colorado Springs is a secondary hub with significant defense-related construction activity. Fort Collins and Boulder also generate demand, particularly for civil and infrastructure roles tied to university and municipal development.
What types of construction roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Colorado?
Roles that most commonly qualify include civil engineers, structural engineers, construction project managers, estimators, and licensed superintendents. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree or demonstrable specialized experience, which supports the EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa classification. Skilled tradespeople, such as electricians and ironworkers with verified credentials, can also qualify under EB-3 when employers complete the PERM labor certification process.
How do I find construction Green Card sponsorship jobs in Colorado?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles in the United States, including construction Green Card jobs in Colorado. You can filter directly by state, visa type, and industry to surface relevant openings from employers willing to sponsor. This saves significant time compared to manually screening general job postings where sponsorship availability is rarely stated upfront.
Are there any Colorado-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in construction?
Colorado's prevailing wage requirements under state and federal public works contracts can affect the PERM labor certification process, since employers must certify they are paying the prevailing wage before sponsoring a Green Card. Projects funded by Colorado's CDOT or municipal infrastructure budgets are subject to these rules. Additionally, Colorado's construction licensing requirements vary by trade, so confirming your credentials are recognized or transferable in the state is an important early step.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card construction jobs in Colorado?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
