Essential Functions
The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) School of Communication seeks an outstanding Communication Studies Instructor with experience in Individual Events to teach and serve as the Assistant Director of Forensics to our internationally award-winning team. A Master’s degree in Communication or related area is required. The appointment begins August 16, 2027.
This faculty member may teach undergraduate courses such as Foundations of Public Speaking, Argumentation and Debate, Business and Professional Communication as well as classes that reflect the applicant’s interests. In seeking a new colleague to serve as the ADOF, the successful applicant will work closely with the DOF to co-teach Intercollegiate Forensics I each fall and Intercollegiate Forensics II each spring semester.
Preference will go to applicants who have experience in coaching and/or competing in forensics, and teaching face-to-face and online classes. This position would teach three courses per semester (which includes co-teaching the classes noted above) with expectations for department, college, university, forensics and/or community service. The DOF and ADOF receive reassigned time to travel, coach, recruit, and judge at regional and national tournaments.
Located within the College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media (CFAM), the School of Communication emphasizes collaborative and entrepreneurial relationships with undergraduate and graduate students. The School has creative leadership, transparent communication, and a collegial faculty and staff.
