Which companies sponsor visas for physicians in Nebraska?
Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, Bryan Health, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center are among the most active physician employers in the state with established visa sponsorship programs. Critical Access Hospitals in rural Nebraska also sponsor physicians regularly, particularly for primary care, internal medicine, and psychiatry roles where recruitment demand is high.
Which visa types are most common for physician roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for physicians in Nebraska, though it requires passing the annual lottery unless the employer is cap-exempt. J-1 visa waivers are a significant alternative, with Nebraska participating in the Conrad 30 program, which allows J-1 physicians to waive the two-year home residency requirement by committing to practice in a medically underserved area for three years.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most physician sponsorship jobs?
Omaha holds the largest concentration of physician sponsorship jobs in Nebraska, driven by Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health's flagship facilities, and several specialty clinics. Lincoln is the second major market, anchored by Bryan Health and University Health. Beyond these two cities, rural communities across western and central Nebraska actively recruit physicians through J-1 visa waiver programs and direct sponsorship.
How to find physician visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters physician job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify Nebraska employers actively recruiting international candidates. Because sponsorship willingness isn't always stated in general job postings, using a targeted platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time. You can filter by role type and state to focus on Nebraska physician openings with confirmed sponsorship.
Are there state-specific considerations for physicians seeking visa sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska's Conrad 30 J-1 waiver program is a meaningful pathway for international physicians, particularly those willing to serve in Health Professional Shortage Areas, which cover large portions of rural Nebraska. The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services administers the program with a set number of waiver slots per year. Physicians in primary care, psychiatry, and general surgery tend to see the most waiver opportunities given the state's documented shortage areas.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored physician jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
