Which companies sponsor visas for program specialists in Nebraska?
The University of Nebraska system, Nebraska Medicine, and state agencies like the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services are among the more active sponsors for program specialist roles. Large insurers and healthcare organizations headquartered in Omaha, such as Mutual of Omaha, also appear in H-1B disclosure data for program and project coordination positions. Sponsorship volume varies by employer and fiscal year.
Which visa types are most common for program specialist roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa category for program specialists in Nebraska, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some university-affiliated positions may also qualify under the J-1 exchange visitor category. Candidates already holding an EAD through OPT or STEM OPT are often an easier path for employers uncertain about full H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most program specialist sponsorship jobs?
Omaha and Lincoln account for the large majority of program specialist sponsorship opportunities in Nebraska. Omaha draws hiring from healthcare systems, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Lincoln is anchored by state government agencies and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Outside these two cities, sponsorship opportunities for program specialists become considerably less common.
How to find program specialist visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify program specialist openings in Nebraska without sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. You can search by role and state to surface positions at universities, healthcare organizations, and state agencies that have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates for program coordination work.
Are there state-specific considerations for program specialists pursuing visa sponsorship in Nebraska?
Nebraska's relatively concentrated job market means most sponsoring employers are clustered in Omaha and Lincoln, so geographic flexibility within the state matters less than in larger states. University of Nebraska campuses often have dedicated international hiring processes and established relationships with immigration counsel, which can make the sponsorship process more straightforward. Program specialist roles tied to federally funded grants may also carry specific eligibility and compliance requirements worth confirming with the employer.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program specialist jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
