Which companies sponsor visas for project assistants in Nebraska?
Nebraska's largest visa-sponsoring employers for project support roles include Nebraska Medicine, CHI Health, Union Pacific Railroad, Kiewit Corporation, and the University of Nebraska system. Construction and infrastructure firms in Omaha frequently sponsor project assistants given the volume of large-scale contracts in the region. Healthcare networks also hire project assistants to support operational and compliance initiatives, making them consistent sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for project assistant roles in Nebraska?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for project assistant positions in Nebraska, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Some candidates in university or nonprofit settings may encounter J-1 visa exchange visitor visas. TN visas apply to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. OPT and STEM OPT are common entry points for recent graduates already in the U.S.
Which cities in Nebraska have the most project assistant sponsorship jobs?
Omaha is the clear center of project assistant sponsorship activity in Nebraska, driven by its concentration of Fortune 500 companies, healthcare networks, and construction firms. Lincoln follows, largely due to the University of Nebraska's research and administrative operations. Smaller markets like Bellevue, near Offutt Air Force Base, occasionally produce project support roles tied to defense contractors, though opportunities there are less frequent.
How to find project assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Nebraska?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find project assistant roles in Nebraska that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for sponsoring employers, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support international candidates. Focusing your search on Omaha and Lincoln, and filtering by industries like healthcare, construction, and higher education, will surface the most relevant openings for project assistant positions in the state.
Are there any Nebraska-specific considerations for project assistants seeking visa sponsorship?
Nebraska employers must pay project assistants the prevailing wage as certified through a Labor Condition Application, which the Department of Labor determines based on location and job duties. Omaha and Lincoln have distinct prevailing wage levels, so roles in each city are assessed separately. Additionally, Nebraska's strong ties to agricultural technology and infrastructure mean project assistant roles sometimes require industry-specific coordination experience that can strengthen an H-1B specialty occupation argument.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project assistant jobs in Nebraska?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
