Which companies sponsor visas for human resources assistants in New Jersey?
Large employers with established immigration programs are the most consistent sponsors. In New Jersey, that includes pharmaceutical companies like Johnson and Johnson and Merck, financial institutions with major NJ operations, and logistics and technology firms concentrated in the northern and central parts of the state. Multinational corporations with dedicated HR departments are generally more willing to sponsor than smaller regional employers.
Which visa types are most common for human resources assistant roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for human resources assistants in New Jersey, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field. The L-1B is relevant for intracompany transfers. Some candidates on OPT or STEM OPT extensions also fill HR assistant positions while pursuing longer-term sponsorship from their employer.
How to find human resources assistant visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify human resources assistant openings in New Jersey without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. You can search by state and job category to surface relevant HR assistant positions across industries like pharma, finance, and professional services that are actively hiring and open to sponsoring international candidates.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most human resources assistant sponsorship jobs?
Newark, Jersey City, and Parsippany see the highest concentration of HR assistant sponsorship activity, largely because of the corporate headquarters and regional offices located there. Princeton and New Brunswick are also notable given the pharmaceutical and biotech presence. The Route 1 corridor connecting Princeton to New Brunswick is particularly dense with employers in industries that routinely sponsor HR roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for human resources assistant visa sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey employers filing H-1B petitions for HR assistants must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the specific county and metropolitan area where the work is performed. New Jersey falls within several wage survey regions, so the prevailing wage in Jersey City differs from that in rural South Jersey. Some employers also use New Jersey's university pipeline, recruiting HR graduates from Rutgers and Montclair State University, though international students still require sponsorship after OPT expires.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored human resources assistant jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
