Which companies sponsor visas for social workers in New Jersey?
Large healthcare systems are the most consistent sponsors for social work roles in New Jersey. RWJBarnabas Health, Hackensack Meridian Health, Atlantic Health System, and Virtua Health have all filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for social work positions. County human services departments and federally qualified health centers occasionally sponsor as well, particularly for bilingual clinical social workers serving immigrant communities.
Which visa types are most common for social work roles in New Jersey?
The H-1B is the most common visa for licensed clinical social workers in New Jersey, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree in social work. Some employers also use the TN visa for Canadian nationals with qualifying MSW credentials. EB-3 immigrant visa sponsorship appears occasionally at nonprofit and healthcare employers with established immigration programs.
Which cities in New Jersey have the most social work sponsorship jobs?
Newark, Edison, Trenton, and Camden concentrate the largest share of sponsored social work positions, driven by dense hospital networks and county-administered human services agencies. Jersey City and New Brunswick also show consistent demand, partly due to proximity to major academic medical centers. Suburban counties in Bergen and Essex serve high-need populations that increase demand for bilingual clinical staff.
How to find social work visa sponsorship jobs in New Jersey?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search social work roles in New Jersey without sorting through employers unlikely to sponsor. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on clinical, school-based, or hospital social work positions. Migrate Mate is updated regularly, so checking frequently improves your chances of catching new postings from New Jersey healthcare systems and nonprofits.
Are there state-specific considerations for social work visa sponsorship in New Jersey?
New Jersey requires a separate state license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), which international applicants must obtain in addition to securing visa sponsorship. Employers typically expect candidates to be license-eligible at hire. New Jersey's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B petitions, and hospital-based employers in high-cost counties like Bergen and Morris tend to offer compensation packages that meet or exceed federal prevailing wage thresholds for MSW-level roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored social work jobs in New Jersey?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
