Which companies sponsor visas for business development representatives in New York?
Enterprise software, fintech, and SaaS companies are among the most active visa sponsors for business development representative roles in New York. Companies like Salesforce, Oracle, SAP, and HubSpot have New York offices and established HR infrastructure for sponsoring H-1B visa petitions. Larger organizations with dedicated legal teams are generally better positioned to navigate sponsorship than early-stage startups, though well-funded Series B and C companies do sponsor regularly.
Which visa types are most common for business development representative roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for business development representative roles in New York, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, typically supported by a business or marketing degree. Candidates already on OPT or STEM OPT can work while an H-1B petition is pending. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which follows a similar process but has no lottery and is far easier to obtain.
Which cities in New York have the most business development representative sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the large majority of business development representative sponsorship jobs in New York, particularly in Midtown and the Flatiron District where SaaS and enterprise tech companies cluster. Brooklyn, specifically the DUMBO and Williamsburg areas, has a growing concentration of mid-stage startups that hire BDRs internationally. Long Island City has also seen increased tech office presence following Amazon's HQ2 partial expansion into the area.
How to find business development representative visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find business development representative roles in New York filtered specifically by visa sponsorship. Rather than manually reviewing hundreds of listings to identify which employers will sponsor, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is confirmed or indicated. For BDR candidates, filtering by New York and sales-related job categories quickly narrows to relevant opportunities without sifting through roles that exclude international applicants.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for business development representatives seeking visa sponsorship?
New York's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B petitions filed for roles in the state, meaning employers must pay the Department of Labor's determined wage for the occupation and location, which reflects New York's high cost of living. BDR roles with a commission-heavy structure can complicate LCA filings since prevailing wage must be met through the base salary alone, not total compensation. Candidates should confirm the base structure with employers early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development representative jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
