Which companies sponsor visas for business development representatives in Ohio?
Technology and enterprise software companies with Ohio offices are among the more active sponsors for business development representative roles. Companies like Oracle, Salesforce, and ADP have operations in Columbus and have filed H-1B visa petitions for sales-adjacent roles. Healthcare technology firms in Cleveland and financial services companies in Cincinnati also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for BDR and inside sales positions.
Which visa types are most common for business development representative roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for business development representative roles, though it requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business, marketing, or communications must be a genuine requirement. Some international candidates already in the U.S. on OPT or STEM OPT extensions also take BDR roles while seeking H-1B sponsorship from their employer.
Which cities in Ohio have the most business development representative sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is Ohio's primary market for business development representative sponsorship jobs, driven by its concentration of technology companies, fintech startups, and enterprise software firms. Cleveland offers opportunities in healthcare technology and professional services, while Cincinnati's consumer goods and logistics sectors generate some BDR demand. Columbus also benefits from proximity to Ohio State University, which produces a consistent pipeline of international graduates entering commercial roles.
How to find business development representative visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and lets you filter business development representative jobs by state, including Ohio. Rather than sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is unclear, Migrate Mate surfaces roles from employers with documented sponsorship history. Focusing your search on Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati will give you the strongest concentration of active BDR openings in the state.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for business development representatives seeking visa sponsorship?
Ohio employers sponsoring H-1B petitions for business development representatives must pay the Department of Labor prevailing wage for the role and location, which is determined by the specific metropolitan area, not a statewide figure. Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati each have their own prevailing wage determinations. BDR roles in Ohio also tend to require demonstrating that the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree in a related field, which is sometimes scrutinized for sales-track roles during USCIS adjudication.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development representative jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
