The Role
TripleLift is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect to help shape the infrastructure that underpins one of adtech's most sophisticated programmatic platforms. This role is built for a technically deep, hands-on architect who can move fluidly between designing elegant cloud solutions and rolling up their sleeves to bring them to life.
You'll work at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and security—partnering with cross-functional teams to design systems that are scalable, resilient, and built for the demands of real-time bidding at massive scale. If you're energized by hard infrastructure problems, passionate about cloud-native design, and eager to leave a lasting technical mark on a high-growth platform, this is your seat at the table.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver cloud architecture solutions on AWS that meet the performance, reliability, and security requirements of TripleLift's exchange and data platforms
- Develop and maintain architectural standards, patterns, and reference designs that engineering teams can build confidently against
- Partner with Platform, Security, and Data Engineering teams to assess infrastructure needs and translate them into actionable, scalable designs
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of new cloud services and technologies, providing clear recommendations grounded in technical and business context
- Drive infrastructure as code practices using Terraform or equivalent, ensuring consistency, repeatability, and auditability across environments
- Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to integrate cloud architecture best practices into CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
- Conduct architectural reviews and design critiques, providing substantive, constructive feedback that raises the bar across the team
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks, reliability risks, and cost inefficiencies in existing and proposed cloud systems
- Support cloud security and compliance efforts, including IAM design, network segmentation, encryption strategies, and adherence to SOC2 and PCI standards
- Mentor engineers on cloud-native design principles and serve as a go-to resource for complex infrastructure decisions
What You Bring
- 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure or platform engineering, with at least 3 years focused on cloud architecture
- Expert-level proficiency with AWS and its core services (EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudFront, and beyond)
- Strong command of infrastructure as code (Terraform preferred) and modern CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions or equivalent)
- Experience designing for high-throughput, low-latency workloads—adtech, fintech, or media platform experience is a meaningful plus
- Solid understanding of cloud security principles, including network architecture, IAM, secrets management, and compliance frameworks (SOC2, PCI, NIST CSF)
- Proficiency in at least one scripting or systems language (Python, Go, or similar) for automation and tooling
- Strong architectural intuition with the ability to weigh tradeoffs across performance, cost, complexity, and maintainability
- Clear, confident communicator who can engage equally well with engineers and business stakeholders
- Self-directed and comfortable driving work forward with limited oversight in a fast-moving environment
- A continuous learner who keeps a close eye on the evolving cloud landscape and brings that knowledge back to the team

Which companies sponsor visas for cloud architects in New York?
Large financial institutions and global tech firms are the most active sponsors for cloud architect roles in New York. JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, IBM, and Deloitte all have consistent H-1B visa sponsorship histories for cloud and infrastructure roles. Major cloud providers including Amazon Web Services and Google have significant New York presences and sponsor regularly. Enterprise consulting firms with New York headquarters round out the core sponsoring employer pool.
Which visa types are most common for cloud architect roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud architects in New York, given that the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates already holding L-1B visas through intracompany transfers are also common, particularly at multinational firms. O-1A petitions are less common but available to cloud architects with documented industry recognition or significant contributions.
Which cities in New York have the most cloud architect sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan accounts for the overwhelming majority of cloud architect sponsorship jobs in New York, driven by financial services, media, and professional services firms headquartered there. The broader New York City metro, including areas of Brooklyn and Queens with growing tech presences, adds additional opportunities. Albany sees some demand from state government IT modernization projects. Outside the city, Rochester and Buffalo have smaller but active employer bases in manufacturing technology and healthcare IT.
How to find cloud architect visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates searching for visa sponsorship jobs, including cloud architect roles in New York. You can filter directly by role and state to see employers with verified sponsorship history. This saves significant time compared to manually screening job postings, since cloud architect listings in New York rarely specify visa sponsorship upfront even when the employer routinely sponsors.
Are there any state-specific considerations for cloud architects seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York's concentration of regulated industries means cloud architects often need to demonstrate familiarity with financial services compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and NYDFS cybersecurity regulations, which can strengthen a candidate's profile with New York-based sponsors. Columbia University, NYU, and Cornell Tech all produce cloud and distributed systems graduates who enter the New York talent market, meaning employer competition for international candidates with specialized cloud platform certifications tends to be higher in this market.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud architect jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
