Which consulting companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in New York?
Large management and technology consulting firms with significant New York offices are among the most active F-1 STEM OPT sponsors, including Deloitte, Accenture, IBM Consulting, McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group, and PwC. Mid-size data and analytics consultancies serving New York's financial services sector also hire STEM OPT candidates regularly. Sponsorship patterns vary by practice area, so confirming OPT authorization at the offer stage is important.
Which cities in New York have the most consulting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Manhattan is by far the primary hub, hosting the New York offices of virtually every major consulting firm alongside the financial services, media, and technology clients they serve. Albany sees demand for policy and government consulting roles. Buffalo and Rochester have smaller but growing technology consulting presences. For STEM OPT candidates, Manhattan offers the highest concentration of qualifying roles with established sponsorship processes.
What types of consulting roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles with a quantitative or technology focus are most likely to carry a STEM-designated CIP code that supports the 24-month STEM OPT extension. These include data analytics consultant, management information systems consultant, operations research analyst, technology strategy consultant, and financial modeling associate. Roles must be directly related to a qualifying STEM degree, so the degree-to-role alignment is evaluated by the employer's Designated School Official before an extension is recommended.
How do I find consulting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate filters consulting job listings specifically for employers with F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history in New York, drawing on DOL Labor Condition Application data to surface firms that have actively filed for STEM-eligible roles. This removes the guesswork of identifying which consulting practices are set up to support OPT candidates. Search by role type and New York location to see active postings from verified sponsoring employers.
Are there any New York-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT consulting jobs?
New York's consulting market is heavily shaped by financial services clients, which means many STEM OPT roles involve data, risk, or compliance work tied to banking and asset management. New York State does not impose additional employment authorization requirements beyond federal USCIS rules, but consulting firms operating on client sites may have E-Verify obligations depending on the client contract. Candidates should confirm their employer's E-Verify enrollment, which is required to support a STEM OPT extension.
