Which companies sponsor visas for program managers in New York?
Large technology and financial services firms account for a significant share of program manager sponsorship in New York. Companies including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and IBM have consistent records of sponsoring program managers through H-1B petitions. Healthcare systems such as NYU Langone and Mount Sinai also sponsor program managers in clinical and operational roles.
Which visa types are most common for program manager roles in New York?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program managers in New York, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates already holding L-1B or L-1A status through an intracompany transfer are another common pathway, particularly in multinational firms concentrated in Manhattan. O-1A visas occasionally apply for program managers with documented extraordinary achievements.
Which cities in New York have the most program manager sponsorship jobs?
New York City, particularly Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, concentrates the vast majority of program manager sponsorship opportunities in the state. The Hudson Yards and Midtown corridors host major tech and finance offices that sponsor heavily. Buffalo has a growing presence through financial services and healthcare employers, and Albany sees sponsorship activity tied to state government technology initiatives and research institutions.
How to find program manager visa sponsorship jobs in New York?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters program manager openings in New York by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening hundreds of listings. You can search by role and state to surface employers with active sponsorship records. This is especially useful for program manager roles where sponsorship willingness varies significantly by employer size and industry in New York.
Are there state-specific considerations for program managers seeking sponsorship in New York?
New York City's high cost of living means the Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for program manager roles tend to be among the highest in the country, which affects how employers structure H-1B petitions. New York also has a dense concentration of H-1B-dependent employers in finance and tech, meaning some firms face stricter attestation requirements. Candidates with degrees from New York universities such as Columbia, Cornell, or NYU often have existing employer relationships that can facilitate sponsorship discussions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program manager jobs in New York?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
