Which companies sponsor visas for accountants in North Carolina?
Charlotte-based financial institutions like Bank of America and Wells Fargo regularly sponsor accountants through the H-1B program, as do large employers like Honeywell, Duke University Health System, and Lowe's. Public accounting firms with North Carolina offices, including the Big Four (Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG), also have consistent sponsorship histories for roles in audit, tax, and advisory.
Which visa types are most common for accountant roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accountants in North Carolina, as accounting qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. Candidates with a CPA or master's degree may have stronger petitions. Canadians and Mexicans may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA/USMCA accountant category, which does not require lottery selection.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most accountant sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte leads the state for accountant sponsorship activity, driven by its concentration of financial services firms and corporate headquarters. Raleigh and Durham follow closely, with demand coming from Research Triangle tech companies, life sciences employers, and state government contractors. Greensboro and Winston-Salem have smaller but active markets, particularly in manufacturing and healthcare finance.
How to find accountant visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search accountant roles in North Carolina without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces openings across Charlotte's financial sector, the Research Triangle's tech and biotech firms, and healthcare systems statewide, making it a practical starting point for your search.
Are there any North Carolina-specific factors accountants should know before pursuing visa sponsorship?
North Carolina's Research Triangle draws a strong pipeline of international accounting talent from NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke, meaning employer familiarity with H-1B sponsorship is relatively high in that region. Accountants should confirm their specific role meets USCIS specialty occupation standards, as positions requiring only general business knowledge rather than a specific accounting degree have faced higher scrutiny in recent years.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accountant jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
