Which companies sponsor visas for entry level roles in North Carolina?
Technology and life sciences employers lead sponsorship activity for entry level roles in North Carolina. IBM, Cisco, and SAS Institute in the Research Triangle Park area have consistent track records of sponsoring international hires at the entry level. In Charlotte, Bank of America and Truist Financial sponsor entry level analysts. Biotech and pharmaceutical companies including Biogen and Novo Nordisk also hire internationally into early-career positions.
Which visa types are most common for entry level jobs in North Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for entry level specialty occupation roles in North Carolina, particularly in software engineering, data science, and financial analysis. International students completing degrees at NC State, Duke, or UNC often bridge into full-time sponsorship through OPT or STEM OPT extensions, which give employers up to three years of work authorization before an H-1B petition is needed.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most entry level visa sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and Durham, anchored by Research Triangle Park, concentrate the highest volume of entry level sponsorship opportunities in the state, particularly in technology, biotech, and engineering. Charlotte follows with strong demand in financial services and consulting. Chapel Hill sees activity tied to UNC's research ecosystem. Smaller markets like Cary and Morrisville host technology employers that also sponsor entry level international hires.
How to find entry level visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters entry level roles in North Carolina by visa sponsorship eligibility, so you're not sorting through positions that won't support your immigration status. The platform surfaces employers in the Research Triangle, Charlotte, and beyond who have active sponsorship history, making it significantly more targeted than general job searching for candidates who need an H-1B or OPT-to-sponsorship pathway.
Are there state-specific considerations for entry level visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle Park is one of the densest employer clusters in the U.S. for entry level STEM sponsorship, which means competition among international candidates is high but employer familiarity with the H-1B process is also high. Universities like NC State, Duke, and UNC generate a large OPT-eligible talent pool, so employers in the area are generally accustomed to hiring international graduates and navigating STEM OPT timelines.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored entry level jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
