If so, you'll thrive on our dynamic team that values collaboration and innovation, providing you the opportunity to leverage your skills in a fast-paced, flexible environment while making a meaningful impact in the healthcare sector.
About the Team
The Systems Sales Engineer will join a dynamic and collaborative team focused on supporting mid-market healthcare customers in Southeast. This team, integral to Nutanix, emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and a strong customer-centric approach, reflecting a culture built on camaraderie and support. The mission of the team is to deliver exceptional technical support and solutions tailored to the specific needs of healthcare clients, leveraging innovative technologies in private and public cloud environments.
You will report to the Senior Manager, Systems Engineering, who values quality over speed in the hiring process. Their leadership style is supportive, emphasizing teamwork and shared goals while fostering a busy yet engaging work environment. The work setup for this role is primarily remote, allowing team members the flexibility to work from various locations without a strict in-office mandate.
The role requires approximately 40% travel for client engagements and meetings. While much of the work can be conducted remotely, the expectation is that the new hire will travel for face-to-face interactions with customers, with the understanding that it is unlikely for any Sales Engineers to be away from the office for more than four out of ten business days.
Candidates need to be based in Raleigh or Charlotte.

- Travel approximately 40% of the time to facilitate client meetings and engagements as required.
- Stay updated on Nutanix products and relevant technologies to provide informed support and insights to clients.
- Assist in transitioning responsibilities from the outgoing Sales Engineer to ensure seamless service continuity for clients.
- Contribute to team collaboration efforts to enhance knowledge sharing and workload management among team members.
What You Will Bring
- 7+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer in data center technologies and virtualization.
- Strong understanding of server storage and networking concepts.
- Familiarity with public cloud technologies (preferred but not mandatory).
- Excellent persuasive communication and relationship-building skills.
- Technical knowledge in security and its application in sales discussions.
- Ability to establish rapport with clients and disrupt the status quo.
- Strong conversational skills and a personable demeanor.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred (not mandatory).
Work Arrangement
Remote: This position is primarily remote. There is no specific in-office requirement, however, there may be circumstances where you may be required to come into a local office for a specific purpose, and/or to travel to other locations based on business needs.
Compensation

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors. Which companies sponsor visas for sales engineers in North Carolina?
Several major employers with significant North Carolina footprints have sponsored sales engineer roles, including Cisco, Red Hat, Lenovo, IBM, and SAS Institute. Lenovo's U.S. headquarters in Morrisville and Red Hat's global base in Raleigh make the Research Triangle area a consistent source of technical sales sponsorship. Life sciences companies around Durham and the RTP corridor also hire sales engineers for medical device and lab instrumentation roles.
Which visa types are most common for sales engineer roles in North Carolina?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for sales engineers in North Carolina, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field, qualifying it as a specialty occupation. Candidates from Australia may pursue the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA, provided the specific role and degree meet the classification criteria.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most sales engineer sponsorship jobs?
Raleigh and the Research Triangle Park area account for the largest concentration of sales engineer sponsorship activity in North Carolina, driven by the region's density of technology, software, and life sciences employers. Charlotte is the second most active market, particularly for sales engineers supporting financial technology and infrastructure companies. Smaller but growing hubs in Durham and Cary also see consistent technical sales hiring from mid-size and enterprise software firms.
How to find sales engineer visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, so you can search sales engineer roles in North Carolina without manually screening each posting. The platform surfaces positions from employers who have a documented history of sponsoring work visas, which is particularly useful in North Carolina where sponsorship activity is concentrated among tech and life sciences companies in the Raleigh-Durham corridor and Charlotte.
Are there any state-specific considerations for sales engineers pursuing sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's Research Triangle Park draws heavily from nearby universities including NC State, UNC Chapel Hill, and Duke, creating strong local pipelines that international candidates compete within. Employers in the RTP area are generally experienced with H-1B sponsorship processes given the region's long history of recruiting international STEM talent. Sales engineer roles with a technical pre-sales focus tend to qualify more reliably as specialty occupations than generalist sales positions, which matters when employers assess sponsorship feasibility.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored sales engineer jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
