Which companies sponsor visas for service team members in North Carolina?
Large hospitality groups, national hotel brands, and multi-unit restaurant operators in North Carolina have historically sponsored visas for service team members. Companies with a significant footprint in Charlotte and Raleigh, including Marriott, Hilton, and Darden Restaurants, are among the more consistent sponsors. University-affiliated dining services at institutions like Duke, UNC Chapel Hill, and NC State also hire internationally for service roles.
Which visa types are most common for service team member roles in North Carolina?
Service team member roles in North Carolina are most commonly supported through the H-2B visa temporary nonagricultural worker visa, which covers seasonal or peak-demand positions in hospitality and food service. Some full-time, year-round roles at larger employers may qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship if the position meets specialty occupation requirements, though this is less common for frontline service roles. J-1 visa exchange visitor programs are also used in hospitality settings.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most service team member sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte leads North Carolina for service team member sponsorship activity, driven by its convention center, major sports venues, and dense concentration of hotels and restaurants. Raleigh and Durham follow closely, supported by strong tourism and a growing food scene. Greensboro and Winston-Salem also offer opportunities, particularly in hospitality tied to events, healthcare campuses, and university activity.
How to find service team member visa sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the U.S. You can filter directly by role and state to surface service team member positions in North Carolina where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. This focused approach saves time compared to sorting through general listings where sponsorship status is unclear. Migrate Mate is updated regularly as new sponsoring employers post roles.
Are there state-specific considerations for service team member visa sponsorship in North Carolina?
North Carolina's tourism and hospitality industry is concentrated around its Research Triangle, Charlotte metro, and Outer Banks coastal resort areas, which creates seasonal demand patterns that affect sponsorship availability. H-2B petitions require employers to demonstrate a temporary need, so roles tied to peak seasons along the coast or during major events in Charlotte may be more readily sponsored than year-round positions. Prevailing wage requirements apply and vary by county and job classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored service team member jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
