The Associate Director of Product Development will be a key member of the Countrywide Auto Product team within Personal Insurance. This person is responsible for converting complex insurance data, market trends, and competitive insights into clear and actionable narratives that inform and influence strategic decisions. This role combines deep expertise in insurance products, industry knowledge, and advanced analytical skills to interpret large datasets from multiple sources. The ideal candidate will excel at analyzing & synthesizing technical information into executive-level storytelling & delivering impactful, data-driven visuals to facilitate conversation around results, strategies, and go forward actions.
Responsibilities:
- Aggregate, analyze, and leverage vast complex datasets from multiple sources (internal performance data, market trends, third-party reports, competitor offerings, regulatory changes, etc.) to identify profitability and growth opportunities, customer behavior patterns, and emerging risks.
- Create recommendations or actions to mitigate adverse results from the above mentioned analyses.
- Synthesis and translate the above complex data and recommendations into clear, concise strategic executive summaries via different methods of storytelling for leadership with varying levels of technical expertise to influence decision-making.
- Ensures ongoing consultation and collaboration with internal business partners to keep the customer at the center of everything.
- Develop compelling, visually engaging presentations and reports tailored for senior executives, cross-functional teams, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on personal lines insurance products, while using advanced analytics and visualization tools to create dashboards and graphics that highlight key insights.
- Partner with actuarial, underwriting, marketing, and operations teams to drive strategic decision to enhance growth of the business.
- Lead cross functional teams with significant partnership include State Product Management, Agency and Direct Distribution Channel and Marketing, Claims, Legal, Compliance, Operations including Billing Ops, IT, DS and Strategy.
Qualifications:
- A strong understanding of Personal Lines insurance products, coverages, and distribution channels including Direct and Agency.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize various data to produce recommendations and actions.
- Strong presentation, storytelling, and executive communication skills. Ability to create concise but powerful content and visuals to influence a range of audiences.
- Demonstrated experience challenging the status quo and broadly influencing key stakeholders to drive change and innovation.
- Strong Excel skills required. Knowledge of SQL, SAS and Snowflake beneficial.
- Ability to independently lead cross functional teams.
- Demonstrated usage of Microsoft Office products, including Excel and PowerPoint.

- 7+ years of prior relevant work experience, P&C insurance experience preferred.
This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work schedule. Candidates who live near one of our office locations will have the expectation of working in an office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work schedule, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.
Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
- $107,600 - $161,400
