Which companies sponsor visas for events professionals in Ohio?
Large-scale venue operators and entertainment companies are the most consistent sponsors. Organizations like Live Nation, SMG/ASM Global (which manages venues including Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland), the Columbus Convention Center, and major Ohio universities with event services divisions have histories of H-1B sponsorship for qualified events professionals. Hospitality groups managing convention and conference facilities also sponsor regularly.
Which visa types are most common for events roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa for events roles that require a specialized degree, such as event technology, marketing, or production management. O-1 visas can apply for candidates with demonstrated distinction in event production or entertainment. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. Events roles framed around business operations or project management are most likely to meet specialty occupation standards.
Which cities in Ohio have the most events sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads due to its concentration of convention facilities, the Greater Columbus Convention Center, and a growing corporate event sector tied to its tech and finance industries. Cleveland is strong for live entertainment and sports events, anchored by venues like Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Huntington Bank Field. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, with a solid hospitality and convention market driven by the Duke Energy Convention Center.
How to find events visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa-sponsored roles in the U.S. You can filter directly for events jobs in Ohio to see positions where employers have indicated sponsorship availability. This saves significant time compared to sifting through general job listings where sponsorship status is often unlisted. Roles in event coordination, production management, and venue operations appear regularly across Ohio's major cities on the platform.
Are there state-specific considerations for events visa sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio's prevailing wage requirements apply to H-1B sponsorship, meaning employers must pay the DOL-determined wage for the specific events role and metropolitan area. Columbus and Cleveland are separate wage regions, so compensation benchmarks differ by city. Ohio's large university system, including Ohio State and Case Western Reserve, also creates a pipeline of OPT-eligible candidates in event management programs, which some employers factor into their sponsorship decisions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored events jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
