Which investment management companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio-based firms with active OPT and STEM OPT hiring histories include Nationwide Financial, KeyBank, Fifth Third Asset Management, and Huntington National Bank, primarily in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati. Larger asset managers and insurance-affiliated investment arms at these institutions have regularly filed Labor Condition Applications for quantitative and analytical roles, though sponsorship decisions depend on the specific role, business need, and individual case.
Which cities in Ohio have the most investment management F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for investment management OPT sponsorship opportunities, driven by its concentration of insurance-affiliated asset managers and regional banks with investment divisions. Cincinnati follows closely, with firms managing pension and institutional assets active in that market. Cleveland's financial district adds additional volume, particularly for fixed income and risk analytics roles at banks with dedicated investment management arms.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT sponsorship are those tied to STEM-designated degree programs. In investment management, this typically includes quantitative analyst, risk analyst, data scientist, financial engineer, and portfolio analytics positions requiring degrees in mathematics, statistics, computer science, financial engineering, or related STEM fields. General relationship management or sales-focused roles without a technical STEM degree requirement are less likely to qualify under STEM OPT.
How do I find investment management F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters investment management jobs in Ohio specifically by STEM OPT sponsorship eligibility, showing employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing history for relevant roles. This removes the guesswork of identifying which Ohio firms actively sponsor international candidates. Focus your search on Columbus, Cincinnati, and Cleveland, and prioritize roles with quantitative or data-driven titles that align with your STEM-designated degree program.
Are there any Ohio-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in investment management?
Ohio's investment management sector is dominated by insurance-affiliated asset managers and regional bank trust divisions rather than standalone hedge funds or private equity firms, which can affect the types of STEM OPT roles available. Many Ohio employers are also E-Verify participants, a requirement for STEM OPT extensions. Candidates should confirm their degree program appears on the USCIS STEM Designated Degree Program List before applying and work closely with their DSO to ensure all paperwork timelines align with any job start date.
