Which transportation companies in Ohio sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Ohio-based and Ohio-operating transportation employers with documented STEM OPT sponsorship activity include Norfolk Southern, R+L Carriers, XPO Logistics, Cardinal Health's supply chain division, and Amazon's fulfillment and delivery network. Large freight carriers and third-party logistics providers tend to have established international hiring processes, while smaller regional carriers are less consistent. Checking an employer's OFLC Labor Condition Application filings through DOL is the most reliable way to verify a company's actual sponsorship history.
Which Ohio cities have the most transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for transportation STEM OPT hiring given its position as a major inland distribution hub and home to significant e-commerce and logistics infrastructure. Cleveland supports transportation engineering and port-adjacent logistics roles, particularly around its Lake Erie shipping corridor. Cincinnati, bordering Kentucky and Indiana, hosts freight and intermodal operations tied to the tri-state highway network. Dayton and Toledo also generate demand for supply chain and operations research roles within manufacturing-linked transportation companies.
How do I find transportation F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters transportation job listings specifically for employers with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history in Ohio, so you're not manually screening hundreds of postings. Search by role type, such as supply chain analyst or transportation engineer, and filter by Ohio location to surface active openings. Verifying that a role sits under a STEM-designated CIP code through USCIS and confirming the employer's DOL LCA filing history before applying strengthens your position considerably.
What transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that commonly qualify are those tied to STEM-designated degree programs: transportation engineering, operations research analysis, supply chain management (where the position requires a quantitative degree), logistics systems analysis, and data-driven fleet or route optimization. Positions requiring a bachelor's or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or statistics qualify when the job duties align with that degree. General freight brokerage, dispatch, or driver management roles typically do not qualify because they are not classified under STEM CIP codes by USCIS.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in transportation?
Ohio's status as a federally designated freight hub under national logistics corridors means state transportation agencies and regional planning organizations occasionally recruit for analytical and engineering roles that can support STEM OPT. Public employers like ODOT, however, do not file LCAs and cannot sponsor F-1 OPT extensions the way private employers do. Ohio also has active E-Verify participation requirements for state contract employers, so confirming whether a prospective transportation employer is enrolled in E-Verify, as required for STEM OPT supervision, is a practical early step.
