Search Retail Jobs in OhioRetail STEM OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Ohio: Frequently Asked Questions
Which retail companies in Ohio sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Ohio-headquartered retailers including Meijer, Abercrombie & Fitch, Bath & Body Works, and Dollar Tree's distribution operations have filed Labor Condition Applications for roles in past years. Large national chains with Ohio offices, such as those in Columbus's retail corridor, also sponsor STEM OPT workers in data, technology, and supply chain functions. Sponsorship varies by role and year, so verifying current LCA filings through OFLC is advisable.
Which Ohio cities have the most retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for retail STEM OPT opportunities, driven by its concentration of retail headquarters and technology centers in the Short North and Easton areas. Cleveland and Cincinnati follow, with regional distribution hubs and retail analytics teams. Columbus also hosts a growing e-commerce and retail tech sector near Ohio State University, which can create demand for STEM-qualified international graduates in data and operations roles.
How do I find retail F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate surfaces retail employers in Ohio with verified F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history, letting you filter by role type and location so you focus only on companies that have actually filed for STEM OPT workers. This is more targeted than broad job searches because it draws on DOL Labor Condition Application data specific to retail and STEM-designated occupations in Ohio.
What types of retail roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that qualify must fall under STEM-designated Standard Occupational Classification codes. In retail, these commonly include data analyst, supply chain analyst, business intelligence developer, e-commerce technology specialist, and logistics systems engineer positions. General retail management or customer-facing sales roles typically do not qualify. Eligibility is tied to the STEM degree classification listed on your OPT Employment Authorization Document, which your Designated School Official confirms with your employer.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in retail in Ohio?
Ohio has no state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal USCIS and DOL rules, but STEM OPT employers in Ohio must be enrolled in E-Verify, which is a federal mandate for all STEM OPT placements. Ohio's retail sector has a relatively high proportion of distribution and logistics operations, so STEM roles in supply chain technology are common. Your employer must also submit a formal training plan to your DSO before your STEM OPT extension is approved.
