Search Developer Jobs in OklahomaDeveloper Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for developers in Oklahoma?
Paycom, headquartered in Oklahoma City, is one of the most active sponsors of developer roles in the state. Other notable employers include SAIC, American Fidelity, and defense contractors with a presence in the Tulsa and Oklahoma City metro areas. Larger national employers with Oklahoma offices, including energy technology firms, also file H-1B petitions for software and systems developers on a recurring basis.
Which visa types are most common for developer roles in Oklahoma?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for developers in Oklahoma, as software development and engineering roles consistently qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related field. Developers from Canada and Mexico may also qualify under the TN visa. Those with exceptional technical credentials may qualify for the O-1A. Employer sponsorship patterns in Oklahoma skew heavily toward H-1B filings.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most developer sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City accounts for the largest share of developer sponsorship activity in the state, driven by Paycom's headquarters and a cluster of fintech, insurance technology, and defense firms. Tulsa is the second major hub, with aerospace, energy technology, and manufacturing companies sponsoring software and systems developers. Smaller activity exists in Stillwater and Norman, near Oklahoma State University and the University of Oklahoma.
How to find developer visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, making it easier to focus your search on developer positions in Oklahoma without sorting through listings that don't support international candidates. You can filter by role type and state to surface software engineering, full-stack, and systems developer openings from Oklahoma employers who actively file H-1B and other work visa petitions.
Are there state-specific considerations for developer visa sponsorship in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma's developer market is heavily influenced by its energy, aerospace, and financial technology sectors, so experience in those industries can strengthen a sponsorship case by aligning your background with the employer's core business. Developers with ties to OU or OSU programs often have an easier path to OPT-to-sponsorship pipelines with in-state employers. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions apply uniformly regardless of state, but cost of living in Oklahoma means offered salaries can remain competitive relative to national benchmarks.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored developer jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
