Which companies in Oregon sponsor visas for cloud data engineers?
Intel and Nike are among the most active H-1B sponsors for cloud data engineer roles in Oregon, with both companies filing consistently through DOL LCA disclosure data. Other Oregon-based sponsors include Amazon Web Services (which has infrastructure operations in the state), Daimler Truck North America, and financial technology firms in the Portland metro. Sponsorship activity is concentrated in Washington and Multnomah counties.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineers in Oregon?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud data engineer roles in Oregon, as the position typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status are also placed in these roles by multinationals like Intel. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa as an alternative to the H-1B.
Which cities in Oregon have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Portland and its westside suburbs, particularly Beaverton and Hillsboro, account for the large majority of cloud data engineer sponsorship activity in Oregon. Hillsboro is anchored by Intel's D1X fabrication campus and multiple technology divisions. Portland's inner eastside and the Silicon Forest corridor also host mid-size SaaS and data infrastructure companies that sponsor cloud engineering roles. Eugene and Corvallis see limited but occasional activity tied to university-adjacent startups.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse cloud data engineer roles in Oregon without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results to the Portland metro, Beaverton, or Hillsboro depending on your target employer. Because Oregon's sponsoring employers include large multinationals and mid-size tech firms, Migrate Mate's filters help surface both segments efficiently.
Are there any Oregon-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Oregon's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B cloud data engineer roles are benchmarked to the Portland-Vancouver-Hillsboro metropolitan statistical area, which reflects a competitive tech labor market. Oregon State University and the University of Oregon produce a steady pipeline of data engineering graduates, and some employers in Corvallis and Eugene maintain OPT-to-H-1B hiring tracks. Oregon has no state income tax on wages below certain thresholds for nonresidents, which can be relevant for candidates on initial short-term assignments.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Oregon?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
