Which fashion & apparel companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Oregon?
Oregon's most active fashion and apparel OPT employers include Nike, headquartered in Beaverton, and Columbia Sportswear, based in Portland. Adidas North America also operates a significant campus in Portland. Beyond these anchors, smaller activewear and sustainable apparel brands in the Pearl District and broader Portland metro area have hired OPT candidates for design, merchandising, and technical product roles, though sponsorship practices vary by company size and hiring cycle.
Which cities in Oregon have the most fashion & apparel F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Portland accounts for the overwhelming majority of fashion and apparel OPT opportunities in Oregon. Nike's campus sits in nearby Beaverton, and Adidas North America maintains its U.S. headquarters in Portland's Pearl District. Columbia Sportswear is also Portland-based. Outside the metro, apparel industry hiring in Oregon is limited, making Portland the practical focal point for F-1 OPT candidates in this sector.
How do I find fashion & apparel F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs in Oregon?
Migrate Mate lets you filter fashion and apparel job listings specifically for F-1 OPT eligibility in Oregon, surfacing employers with verified sponsorship history so you're not guessing from a generic job listing. Given Portland's concentration of major activewear and outdoor apparel brands, filtering by employer OPT filing history helps prioritize companies that have sponsored candidates in design, product development, merchandising, and supply chain roles before.
What types of fashion & apparel roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles most commonly authorized under F-1 OPT in Oregon's fashion and apparel sector include apparel product developer, footwear designer, textile engineer, technical designer, merchandise planner, sourcing analyst, and supply chain coordinator. These positions typically require a degree in fashion design, textile science, industrial design, or supply chain management. Roles directly related to your field of study are required for OPT authorization, so the degree-to-role connection must be clear.
Are there state-specific or industry-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in Oregon's fashion sector?
Oregon's fashion industry skews heavily toward performance, outdoor, and sustainable apparel rather than traditional luxury or fast fashion, which shapes the types of technical and design skills employers prioritize. F-1 OPT candidates should confirm their role directly aligns with their field of study before accepting an offer, as USCIS requires a direct relationship between the job and the degree program. STEM OPT extension eligibility depends on whether the role falls under a qualifying SOC code.
