INTRODUCTION
We are an international leader in specialized engineering and technical services, providing critical infrastructure and consulting to institutional and commercial clients worldwide. Our US division is high-growth, fast-paced, and operates at the intersection of complex commercial projects and rigorous government compliance. We are looking for a high-impact Assistant Controller to serve as the right-hand to our US Finance Director. This isn't a "sit in the background" role—you will be the primary engine behind our financial operations. You’ll own the month-end close from start to finish and act as a strategic partner in building a world-class finance function.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mission:
- Take full ownership of the month-end close process for multiple subsidiaries, ensuring absolute accuracy and data integrity.
- Act as the Director’s "Number Two," providing the financial clarity needed for high-level decision-making and operational planning.
- Oversee government reporting requirements (including incurred cost proposals) and lead the charge on external audits.
- Challenge the status quo. We want someone who identifies inefficiencies, proposes better workflows, and implements scalable solutions.
- Maintain the general ledger, manage complex reconciliations, and ensure adherence to both US GAAP and IFRS standards.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. You’ve likely been a Senior Accountant or Assistant Controller in a complex, multi-entity environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (CPA or progress toward it is highly valued).
- Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS. You don’t just follow the rules; you understand the logic behind them.
- You are an Excel expert. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Power BI, or ADP Payroll will put you at the top of our list.
- You have a calm, methodical approach to high-pressure deadlines. You are assertive enough to challenge processes but collaborative enough to build bridges.
You’ll be joining a team where finance is viewed as a strategic asset, not just a back-office function. You will report to a Director who was placed by our firm and is known for being an exceptional mentor and leader. This is a role with high visibility, significant autonomy, and the chance to work within a sophisticated global framework.

Which companies sponsor visas for accounting managers in Pennsylvania?
Several large Pennsylvania employers have a track record of sponsoring accounting managers. BNY Mellon and Vanguard in the Philadelphia area regularly file for senior finance and accounting roles. UPMC and Highmark in Pittsburgh sponsor accounting professionals across their large corporate finance teams. Comcast, AmerisourceBergen, and manufacturing firms like Air Products also appear in Department of Labor disclosure data for accounting-related sponsorships.
Which visa types are most common for accounting manager roles in Pennsylvania?
The H-1B is the most common visa for accounting managers in Pennsylvania, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Candidates with a master's degree may qualify under the H-1B advanced degree exemption. Those already holding L-1 intracompany transferee status through a multinational employer are another common pathway into Pennsylvania accounting manager positions.
Which cities in Pennsylvania have the most accounting manager sponsorship jobs?
Philadelphia generates the highest volume of accounting manager sponsorship activity in Pennsylvania, driven by its concentration of financial services, insurance, and pharmaceutical companies. Pittsburgh is a strong second, anchored by healthcare systems, technology firms, and financial institutions headquartered there. Harrisburg and Allentown see more limited but consistent sponsorship from regional manufacturers, utilities, and state-affiliated organizations.
How to find accounting manager visa sponsorship jobs in Pennsylvania?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters accounting manager roles in Pennsylvania by visa sponsorship willingness, so you are not sorting through listings from employers who will not sponsor. Searching by role and state on Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities at Philadelphia-area financial firms, Pittsburgh healthcare systems, and statewide manufacturers that have sponsored accounting professionals before.
Are there any Pennsylvania-specific considerations for accounting managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Pennsylvania has strong university pipelines through Wharton, Carnegie Mellon's Tepper School, and Penn State, meaning employers in the state are accustomed to recruiting internationally trained accounting candidates. The H-1B prevailing wage requirement for accounting managers in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh reflects the higher cost of labor in those metro areas, so employers filing LCAs must meet the applicable wage level for the specific location and role classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored accounting manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
