Which investment management companies sponsor Green Card visas in South Carolina?
National asset managers with South Carolina offices, including regional branches of firms like Fidelity, Raymond James, and various independent registered investment advisers headquartered in Greenville and Columbia, have historically filed Green Card sponsorship petitions. Larger corporate treasury and asset management divisions tied to multinational manufacturers in the Upstate region also sponsor select roles, typically through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories.
Which cities in South Carolina have the most investment management Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Greenville leads due to its growing financial services sector tied to the Upstate's manufacturing and corporate base. Columbia, as the state capital, hosts government-adjacent investment offices and insurance asset management divisions. Charleston has an expanding wealth management presence driven by high-net-worth residential growth. Rock Hill, near the Charlotte metro, benefits from proximity to one of the Southeast's largest financial centers.
What types of investment management roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in South Carolina?
Roles that typically qualify include portfolio managers, quantitative analysts, compliance officers, fixed income analysts, and fund operations specialists. These positions generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field, satisfying the specialty occupation threshold used in EB-2 and EB-3 petitions. Senior roles with specialized expertise or advanced degrees often align most clearly with EB-2 requirements.
How do I find investment management Green Card sponsorship jobs in South Carolina?
Migrate Mate lists investment management roles in South Carolina where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship willingness, filtering out positions unlikely to support international candidates. You can search by city, role type, and visa category to focus specifically on Green Card-eligible openings. This saves significant time compared to manually screening postings, which rarely disclose sponsorship intent upfront.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in South Carolina's investment management sector?
South Carolina does not impose state-level immigration requirements beyond federal standards, but the relatively smaller size of its financial sector compared to states like New York means fewer employers routinely manage Green Card petitions in-house. Many South Carolina investment firms rely on outside immigration counsel, which can extend timelines. Candidates should confirm early in the hiring process whether a prospective employer has prior Green Card sponsorship experience.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card investment management jobs in South Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
