Which companies sponsor visas for medical assistants in South Dakota?
Sanford Health, headquartered in Sioux Falls, is South Dakota's largest health system and the most active sponsor of clinical support staff, including medical assistants. Monument Health in Rapid City is another primary employer. Regional medical centers such as Avera Health and Indian Health Service facilities serving tribal communities in the state have also sponsored internationally trained clinical staff.
Which visa types are most common for medical assistant roles in South Dakota?
Medical assistant roles in South Dakota are most commonly sponsored under the H-1B visa when the position requires a degree-level specialty occupation qualification. The EB-3 immigrant visa is another common pathway for clinical support roles, particularly when employers are willing to sponsor permanent residence. Some positions at nonprofit or government-affiliated health facilities may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B filings.
Which cities in South Dakota have the most medical assistant sponsorship jobs?
Sioux Falls has the highest concentration of medical assistant sponsorship opportunities in South Dakota, driven by Sanford Health's large network of clinics and hospitals. Rapid City is the second-largest market, anchored by Monument Health. Aberdeen and Watertown have smaller but active medical communities with regional hospitals that periodically hire internationally trained clinical staff.
How to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Dakota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find medical assistant visa sponsorship jobs in South Dakota, with listings filtered specifically by role and state so you can focus on employers already open to sponsoring international candidates. Search for medical assistant roles and filter to South Dakota to see current openings at health systems like Sanford Health and Monument Health without sorting through employers who do not sponsor.
Are there any state-specific considerations for medical assistant visa sponsorship in South Dakota?
South Dakota does not require medical assistants to hold a state license, but many employers prefer or require candidates to hold a nationally recognized certification such as the CMA from AAMA or RMA from AMT. Employers sponsoring H-1B petitions must meet the Department of Labor's prevailing wage requirements for the Sioux Falls or Rapid City metropolitan areas, which can differ from national averages. Rural healthcare shortages across the state mean some positions qualify for additional federal support.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored medical assistant jobs in South Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
