Which companies in Tennessee sponsor visas for administrative assistants?
Large employers with established HR and immigration infrastructure are the most consistent sponsors. In Tennessee, that includes Vanderbilt University, HCA Healthcare, and FedEx's Memphis headquarters. State government contractors and healthcare networks operating across Nashville, Knoxville, and Memphis have also filed Labor Condition Applications for administrative and office support roles. Smaller firms rarely sponsor due to the cost and complexity involved.
Which visa types are most common for administrative assistant roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa for administrative assistant positions that require a bachelor's degree in a specific field, such as roles tied to healthcare administration or legal support. TN status is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories, though administrative assistant is not always a straightforward fit. L-1B intracompany transfers apply when a candidate moves from a foreign office to a Tennessee location of the same employer.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs?
Nashville accounts for the largest share of administrative assistant sponsorship activity in Tennessee, driven by its concentration of healthcare organizations, corporate offices, and higher education institutions. Memphis is a secondary hub, particularly through logistics and healthcare employers. Knoxville sees activity around the University of Tennessee, which has sponsored administrative roles for international employees, and Oak Ridge's research facilities also generate occasional demand.
How to find administrative assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, making it more targeted than general job searching. For administrative assistant roles in Tennessee, you can filter by state and role type to surface positions at Nashville healthcare networks, Memphis logistics firms, and Tennessee universities. Reviewing employer LCA filings alongside active listings helps confirm which organizations are actively sponsoring.
Are there any Tennessee-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for administrative assistants?
Tennessee's healthcare sector is the primary driver of administrative assistant sponsorship, with Nashville functioning as a regional hub for major health systems that have international hiring pipelines. The state's large research universities, including Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee, are accustomed to sponsoring international staff. Prevailing wage requirements for administrative roles are set by the Department of Labor based on the specific metro area, so wages in Nashville will differ from those in smaller Tennessee markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored administrative assistant jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
