Which companies sponsor visas for support engineers in Texas?
Several large technology employers in Texas have consistent track records of sponsoring work visas for support engineers. Dell Technologies (Round Rock), Oracle (Austin), IBM (multiple Texas locations), and AT&T (Dallas) regularly file H-1B visa petitions for technical support roles. Smaller SaaS companies concentrated in Austin's tech corridor also sponsor, though less predictably than enterprise employers with dedicated immigration programs.
Which visa types are most common for support engineer roles in Texas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for support engineers in Texas, provided the role requires a specialized bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Some employers also use the L-1B for intracompany transfers with specialized knowledge. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA, which is a faster and cap-exempt alternative for qualifying technical roles.
Which cities in Texas have the most support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Austin leads Texas for support engineer sponsorship activity, driven by a dense concentration of SaaS, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise software companies. Dallas-Fort Worth is close behind, with strong demand from financial technology firms, telecom companies, and large IT service providers. Houston has notable opportunities tied to energy technology and healthcare IT sectors. San Antonio, while smaller, has growing cybersecurity and defense-adjacent tech employers.
How to find support engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse support engineer roles in Texas without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform is designed for international candidates, so listings are vetted for sponsorship willingness. Searching by Texas cities like Austin, Dallas, or Houston on Migrate Mate helps narrow results to employers actively hiring support engineers with immigration support.
Are there any Texas-specific factors that affect support engineer sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage calculations under the H-1B's Labor Condition Application process. Employers must still meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements based on the specific metropolitan statistical area, so wages for Austin roles are benchmarked against Austin market rates, not a statewide figure. Texas also has a strong university pipeline from UT Austin, Texas A&M, and UT Dallas, which means many H-1B candidates enter through OPT-to-sponsorship pathways with in-state employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored support engineer jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
