Which companies in Utah sponsor visas for intern roles?
Technology and software companies are the most active intern visa sponsors in Utah. Adobe's Lehi campus, Qualtrics in Provo, and Ancestry in Salt Lake City regularly hire international interns. Life sciences companies along the Wasatch Front, including biotech firms and medical device manufacturers, also participate in sponsored internship programs, particularly for graduate-level research positions.
Which visa types are most common for intern roles in Utah?
Most international interns in Utah work under F-1 OPT or CPT authorization, which doesn't require the employer to file a separate sponsorship petition. For post-internship transitions or roles structured as formal employment, H-1B visa sponsorship applies, though it requires the employer to file a petition after lottery selection. J-1 visa exchange visitor visas are also used for structured internship programs through approved sponsors.
Which cities in Utah have the most intern visa sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City and Provo account for the majority of intern sponsorship opportunities in Utah. Salt Lake City draws interns across finance, healthcare technology, and enterprise software, while Provo benefits from proximity to BYU and a dense cluster of SaaS companies. Lehi, often called Silicon Slopes, is a secondary hub with a high concentration of technology employers actively hiring interns.
How to find intern visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for intern roles in Utah without sorting through positions that don't support international candidates. You can narrow results by state and role type to surface relevant openings in Salt Lake City, Provo, and the Silicon Slopes corridor. Creating an account lets you track new postings as they appear.
Are there any Utah-specific considerations for international interns seeking visa sponsorship?
Utah's intern market is closely tied to its university system. The University of Utah and BYU both have international student offices that facilitate CPT and OPT authorization, which many Silicon Slopes employers expect candidates to use rather than requiring full H-1B sponsorship for internships. Interns in life sciences roles may encounter additional credentialing requirements depending on the research environment and lab access involved.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored intern jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
