Which companies sponsor visas for NPs in Utah?
Intermountain Health and University of Utah Health are the largest employers of nurse practitioners in Utah and have established records of sponsoring work visas for qualified candidates. SCL Health, Steward Health Care, and various federally qualified health centers across the state also sponsor NPs, particularly for roles in primary care, family medicine, and behavioral health where staffing needs are persistent.
Which visa types are most common for NP roles in Utah?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for internationally trained nurse practitioners in Utah, as NP roles at the master's or doctoral level generally qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards. The J-1 visa through the Conrad 30 waiver program is another route, particularly for NPs willing to commit to serving in Utah's Health Professional Shortage Areas for at least three years after completing their exchange program.
Which cities in Utah have the most NP sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of NP sponsorship opportunities in Utah, given its concentration of major hospital systems, academic medical centers, and specialty clinics. Provo and Ogden also have active markets driven by regional hospital networks. Beyond the Wasatch Front, rural communities in southern and eastern Utah frequently seek NPs with visa sponsorship support due to persistent workforce shortages in those areas.
How to find np visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers looking for visa-sponsored roles, including NP positions in Utah. You can filter directly by state and role type to surface employers that have sponsored work visas for nurse practitioners in the past. This is more targeted than general job searches and saves time by surfacing relevant opportunities without having to manually research each employer's sponsorship history.
Are there state-specific considerations for NPs seeking visa sponsorship in Utah?
Utah is a full practice authority state, meaning licensed NPs can evaluate, diagnose, and prescribe independently without a required physician collaboration agreement. This makes Utah attractive to internationally trained NPs and can strengthen a sponsoring employer's case for the role. Additionally, Utah's Conrad 30 waiver slots, allocated annually for J-1 visa physicians and advanced practice providers in shortage areas, can be a viable pathway for NPs already on J-1 status.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored np jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
