Which companies sponsor visas for project accountants in Utah?
Construction and engineering firms are among the most active sponsors for project accountant roles in Utah, including large contractors operating along the Wasatch Front. Healthcare systems like Intermountain Health, technology employers in the Silicon Slopes corridor near Lehi and Provo, and mining companies with significant Utah operations have also filed Labor Condition Applications for project accounting positions in recent years.
Which visa types are most common for project accountant roles in Utah?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for project accountants in Utah, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa as accountants. Candidates already holding an O-1 visa or L-1 visa may also find Utah employers willing to continue sponsorship.
Which cities in Utah have the most project accountant sponsorship jobs?
Salt Lake City accounts for the largest share of project accountant sponsorship activity in Utah, driven by its concentration of construction, healthcare, and professional services employers. Provo and Orem, home to Utah's Silicon Slopes tech hub, are the second-strongest market. Ogden and St. George are smaller but growing, particularly as infrastructure and real estate development projects expand statewide.
How to find project accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Utah?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for project accountant roles in Utah without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and job category to surface relevant openings from construction firms, tech companies, and other Utah employers actively hiring internationally sponsored project accounting candidates.
Are there state-specific considerations for project accountants seeking sponsorship in Utah?
Utah's prevailing wage determinations for project accountant roles are set by the Department of Labor based on the Salt Lake City and Provo metropolitan statistical areas, which can differ meaningfully from rural county rates. Utah's strong university pipeline through the University of Utah and Brigham Young University means employers are familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions, which can work in internationally trained candidates' favor when approaching established local employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project accountant jobs in Utah?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
