Which companies in Virginia sponsor visas for corporate development managers?
Northern Virginia's defense and technology contractors are among the most active sponsors. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, and Perspecta regularly hire for corporate development functions and have established visa sponsorship programs. Amazon Web Services and Capital One, both headquartered in the region, also sponsor for M&A and strategic finance roles. Federal contracting firms tend to have structured HR processes that make sponsorship more straightforward than smaller firms.
What visa types are most commonly used for corporate development manager roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for corporate development managers in Virginia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees may also see EB-2 pathways pursued by employers during green card sponsorship. L-1A intracompany transfer visas are relevant for managers transferring from a foreign affiliate of a Virginia-based company.
Which cities in Virginia have the most corporate development manager visa sponsorship jobs?
The Northern Virginia metro area, encompassing McLean, Tysons, Reston, and Arlington, accounts for the large majority of corporate development sponsorship activity in the state. This cluster sits within the broader DC metro market and benefits from proximity to federal agencies, major defense contractors, and a dense technology sector. Richmond has a smaller but active market driven by financial services firms and regional corporations with M&A functions.
How to find corporate development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship and filters corporate development manager roles in Virginia by sponsorship history and employer type. Because corporate development positions are relatively senior and less frequently posted than individual contributor roles, setting up alerts on Migrate Mate for the Northern Virginia and Richmond markets helps surface relevant openings as they appear rather than relying on broad searches.
Are there any Virginia-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for corporate development managers?
Virginia's concentration of federal contractors introduces a layer of complexity not common in other states. Some positions require security clearances, and visa status can affect clearance eligibility, which narrows the sponsoring employer pool. The state's strong pipeline from George Mason University, University of Virginia, and Georgetown feeds M&A and strategy talent locally. Employers in the defense sector are generally familiar with immigration processes but may have role-specific restrictions tied to contract requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored corporate development manager jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
