Which companies sponsor visas for program supervisors in Virginia?
Government contractors dominate visa sponsorship for program supervisors in Virginia. Companies like Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, SAIC, and ManTech regularly file H-1B visa petitions for program management roles. Healthcare employers such as Inova Health System and VCU Health also sponsor, particularly for clinical program supervisors. Nonprofit and higher education institutions, including George Mason University and Virginia Tech, are additional sources of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for program supervisor roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program supervisors in Virginia, particularly for roles requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as public administration, social work, or healthcare management. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupational categories. Some nonprofit employers may support J-1 visa exchange visitor placements for program coordination roles.
Which cities in Virginia have the most program supervisor sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, including Arlington, Fairfax, and McLean, concentrates the highest volume of program supervisor sponsorship opportunities due to the density of federal contractors and technology firms. Richmond follows as a strong secondary market, anchored by healthcare systems and state government-adjacent nonprofits. Hampton Roads, including Virginia Beach and Norfolk, offers sponsorship openings tied to defense contractors and military-connected organizations.
How to find program supervisor visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter by role and state to find program supervisor positions in Virginia where employers have an active history of sponsoring work visas. This is more targeted than general job searches because listings are curated for sponsorship eligibility, saving time for candidates on visa timelines.
Are there state-specific considerations for program supervisor visa sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's heavy concentration of federal contractors creates a unique factor: many program supervisor roles require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship because clearance eligibility is generally limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents. Candidates should prioritize roles at employers whose program supervisor positions are not clearance-dependent. The prevailing wage requirement under the H-1B applies statewide, and Northern Virginia's higher cost of living typically results in higher wage determinations than rural parts of the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program supervisor jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
