Role Description
The SE is focused on helping our government customers become a true Agentic Enterprise by operationalizing Data + AI + Trust. You will serve as a definitive subject matter expert for our government solutions and guide customers across the lifecycle—from technical evaluation and close through activation, adoption, and expansion.
Your Impact
- Lead deep technical and business discovery sessions with federal stakeholders to uncover mission gaps, pain points, and legacy bottlenecks to scope agentic solution use cases, translate outcomes/ROI into an executable architecture, demonstration/proof-of-concept (POC) and activation plan.
- Build high-impact demonstrations and POCs on the platform. This includes configuring Agentforce to demonstrate how autonomous AI agents can automate federal workflows and citizen services.
- Deliver world-class product demonstrations that tell a compelling story, showing how Salesforce solves specific agency missions needed to achieve the functional requirements of the customer.
- Create end-to-end technical architectures and solutions that integrate Salesforce’s Agentic Enterprise Platform with the unique security and enterprise architecture needed to achieve the technical win.
- Design and lead hands-on technical workshops and "Deep Dives" for agency IT leads and Enterprise Architects.
- Confidently present technical solutions to GS/Executive-level leadership and political appointees, simplifying complex tech into mission outcomes.
- Serve as the technical lead for Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, ensuring technical accuracy and security compliance.
- Drive activation by partnering with customers on agent definition, configuration, and deployment strategy to accelerate production readiness.
- Identify automation and process improvement opportunities by intaking both process and technical requirements to remove friction and accelerate activation.
- Build reusable accelerators (demo environments, components, POC assets, playbooks, best practices) and enable others to scale delivery.
- Drive Voice of the Customer into Product; inform messaging/plays with Product Marketing.
- Leverage modern 3rd-party development tools and AI-assisted coding to rapidly build and iterate on platform configurations, front-end experiences and custom components.
Required Qualifications

- Proficiency of Salesforce Core (Public Sector Solutions, Sales, Service, Experience Cloud) and the Data 360/Agentforce stack.
- Agentic + AI fluency: practical understanding of LLMs, RAG/grounding, evaluation concepts, and how agentic systems behave in production (safety, reliability, governance).
- Experience with agentic engineering tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Agentforce Vibes, etc).
- The ability to run technical & business discovery to define agentic solution use cases, success metrics, and a feasible execution plan.
- Executive + technical communication: able to lead whiteboards and communicate with developers and C-suite with equal fluency, and translate architecture to outcomes/ROI.
- Deep technical command of multi-tier architectures, including relational database design (SQL, SOQL), schema modeling, and the nuances of high-scale web technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/LWC).
- Growth mindset; willingness to continually sharpen technical/advisory skills through required enablement, labs, courses, and certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Salesforce engineering depth; Apex and Lightning Web Components (or equivalent) and comfort operating across the SDLC.

Which companies sponsor visas for solution engineers in Virginia?
Northern Virginia's technology sector includes consistent sponsors for solution engineer roles. Companies such as Palo Alto Networks, Salesforce, AWS, Microsoft, Leidos, and Booz Allen Hamilton have filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for pre-sales and solution engineering positions in the state. Cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure firms operating out of the Dulles Technology Corridor and Tysons Corner are among the more active sponsors.
Which visa types are most common for solution engineer roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for solution engineers in Virginia, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field and qualifies as a specialty occupation. Australian nationals may also pursue the E-3 visa. Candidates already holding L-1B visas through multinational employers sometimes transition into solution engineering roles without a new sponsorship filing.
Which cities in Virginia have the most solution engineer sponsorship jobs?
The vast majority of solution engineer sponsorship activity in Virginia is concentrated in Northern Virginia, particularly in Tysons Corner, Reston, Herndon, and Arlington. These areas form the core of the Dulles Technology Corridor and host regional headquarters for major technology and defense-adjacent firms. Richmond has a smaller but growing presence, particularly among financial technology and healthcare IT companies seeking pre-sales technical talent.
How to find solution engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for solution engineer roles in Virginia without sorting through postings that offer no sponsorship. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Northern Virginia's technology corridor, where pre-sales and technical sales engineering demand is highest. Migrate Mate is updated regularly so sponsorship status reflects current employer activity.
Are there any state-specific considerations for solution engineers seeking sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's proximity to federal agencies means many employers hold security clearance requirements, which can complicate sponsorship for foreign nationals since most clearances require U.S. citizenship or permanent residency. Solution engineers targeting cleared contractor roles should focus on commercial technology firms instead. Northern Virginia's concentration of H-1B-experienced employers and immigration law firms also means employers in the region are generally familiar with the sponsorship process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored solution engineer jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
