Which companies sponsor visas for cloud solutions architects in Washington DC?
Federal contractors and IT services firms are the most active sponsors in the DC area. Companies like Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Deloitte, Accenture Federal Services, and ManTech regularly file H-1B petitions for cloud solutions architects. Commercial technology firms and cloud consulting practices operating in the DC metro also sponsor, particularly for roles supporting government cloud modernization projects.
Which visa types are most common for cloud solutions architect roles in Washington DC?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud solutions architects in Washington DC, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. L-1B visas are used by multinational firms transferring architects with specialized knowledge. Australian citizens may qualify for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals may be eligible under the TN visa category.
How to find cloud solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters cloud solutions architect roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability and location, making it straightforward to identify DC-area employers actively willing to sponsor. Given how many federal contractors operate in this market, filtering by sponsorship history is particularly useful here. Searching on Migrate Mate with the Washington DC location filter surfaces roles at government-adjacent tech firms and commercial employers that regularly file petitions for this role.
Which cities in Washington DC have the most cloud solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Washington DC itself is the primary hub, but the broader metro area matters just as much. Arlington and Tysons Corner in Virginia host major defense contractors and cloud consulting firms. Bethesda and Rockville in Maryland are home to government agencies and their IT vendors. Most visa-sponsored cloud architect roles are concentrated along the I-270 and I-495 corridors where federal contractor offices cluster.
Are there any DC-specific considerations for cloud solutions architects seeking visa sponsorship?
Security clearances are a significant factor in the DC market. Many federal contractor roles require or prefer clearance eligibility, which can complicate sponsorship for foreign nationals since clearances are generally unavailable to non-US persons. However, numerous commercial and unclassified government IT projects actively sponsor cloud architects without clearance requirements. Experience with FedRAMP compliance and government cloud environments strengthens candidacy for DC-area roles considerably.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud solutions architect jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
