Which companies sponsor visas for program development managers in Washington DC?
Federal contractors and consulting firms are among the most active sponsors for program development manager roles in DC. Companies like Booz Allen Hamilton, Deloitte, Leidos, and ICF International have histories of filing H-1B visa petitions for program management positions. Large nonprofits and international development organizations, including the World Bank Group and major global health NGOs headquartered in DC, also sponsor this role category with some regularity.
Which visa types are most common for program development manager roles in Washington DC?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for program development managers in DC, provided the role requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a related field such as public policy, business administration, or a relevant technical discipline. Some international development organizations also utilize J-1 visa exchange visitor visas. Candidates with extraordinary achievement may explore the O-1A. Eligibility depends on the specific role requirements and employer willingness to sponsor.
How to find program development manager visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status, making it easier to identify program development manager openings in DC where employers are actively willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of unfiltered postings, you can focus directly on DC-based roles in federal contracting, international development, and nonprofit sectors where sponsorship for this position type is more common.
Which areas within Washington DC have the most program development manager sponsorship jobs?
Most program development manager sponsorship opportunities are concentrated in the DC proper area, particularly around the K Street corridor, Capitol Hill adjacent offices, and the nonprofit hub near Dupont Circle. Northern Virginia suburbs, especially Arlington and McLean, add significant volume through the dense federal contracting ecosystem there. Bethesda and Silver Spring in Maryland also host international development organizations and government-adjacent employers that hire for this role.
Are there any DC-specific considerations for program development managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Many DC-area program development manager roles involve federal contracts, which can introduce security clearance requirements that complicate visa sponsorship since clearances are generally not available to non-citizens early in their immigration process. Candidates should confirm with employers upfront whether a role has clearance requirements. Additionally, DC's international development sector and association community offer sponsorship pathways that are relatively more accessible for this role compared to other U.S. cities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program development manager jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
