Which companies sponsor visas for technical solutions architects in Washington DC?
Government contractors and technology consultancies are the most active sponsors in DC. Firms like Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Accenture Federal Services, and Deloitte's federal practice regularly file H-1B visa petitions for technical solutions architect roles. Large commercial technology companies with DC offices, including Microsoft, Google, and Amazon Web Services, also sponsor these positions, particularly for roles supporting federal cloud initiatives.
Which visa types are most common for technical solutions architect roles in Washington DC?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for technical solutions architects in DC, given the role's classification as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a related technical field. Professionals from Canada or Mexico may qualify under the TN visa. Candidates with extraordinary ability or multinational manager backgrounds may explore O-1 visa or L-1 visa options depending on their specific qualifications and employer circumstances.
How to find technical solutions architect visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters technical solutions architect roles specifically by employers who have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to companies that won't support your work authorization. For Washington DC, focus your search on the government contracting and federal IT sectors, which represent the largest concentration of these roles. Migrate Mate's DC listings cover both the city itself and the broader Northern Virginia and Maryland corridor.
Which areas in Washington DC have the most technical solutions architect sponsorship jobs?
Most technical solutions architect roles in the DC market are concentrated in Northern Virginia, particularly the Tysons Corner, Reston, and Arlington corridors, which house major government contractors and technology firms. The DC city core itself has strong demand from consulting firms and federal agency contractors. Bethesda and Rockville in Maryland also have a meaningful presence, especially for health IT and defense-adjacent employers.
Are there any DC-specific considerations for technical solutions architect visa sponsorship?
The DC market has a notable complication for international candidates: many government contractor roles require a U.S. security clearance, which is generally not available to non-U.S. citizens. This narrows sponsorship opportunities to commercial-facing or unclassified project work. Universities in the region, including Georgetown and George Mason, produce graduate-level talent that feeds into local employer pipelines, and some of these employers have established sponsorship processes for qualified candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored technical solutions architect jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
