Which companies sponsor visas for corporate accountants in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, and Boeing are among the most active visa sponsors for corporate accountants in Washington, given their large finance and controllership teams. Starbucks, Expedia, and major regional banks headquartered in Seattle also have established sponsorship track records. Companies with significant international operations tend to file more frequently, as their finance teams often require candidates with cross-border accounting experience.
Which visa types are most common for corporate accountant roles in Washington?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for corporate accountants in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field. TN visas are available for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying accounting credentials. Some candidates also enter through L-1 visa intracompany transfers when moving from a foreign affiliate of a Washington-based employer.
Which cities in Washington have the most corporate accountant sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Bellevue account for the majority of corporate accountant visa sponsorship activity in Washington. Seattle's dense concentration of corporate headquarters, particularly in tech and retail, generates consistent accounting roles. Bellevue has grown significantly as Microsoft and other large employers have expanded their east-side campuses. Redmond and Kirkland also see sponsorship activity, largely tied to Microsoft's broader campus footprint in that corridor.
How to find corporate accountant visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters corporate accountant roles in Washington by verified sponsorship history, so you're not sorting through listings that won't support a visa. Searching by the Washington state filter narrows results to employers in Seattle, Bellevue, and surrounding cities. Prioritize employers with prior H-1B or LCA filings in accounting, as those have demonstrated willingness to sponsor roles similar to yours.
Are there state-specific or role-specific factors for corporate accountants seeking sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects compensation structuring but not visa eligibility. For H-1B purposes, employers must pay the prevailing wage for corporate accountant roles in the specific metro area, which is determined by Department of Labor wage data for the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett region. Washington's large CPA pipeline from the University of Washington and Seattle University means competition is strong, so international candidates with specialized industry experience or CPA licensure tend to stand out.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored corporate accountant jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
