Which fashion & apparel companies sponsor F-1 OPT visas in Washington?
Washington's most active fashion and apparel OPT sponsors include Nordstrom, headquartered in Seattle, along with REI and Zulily. Eddie Bauer's offices in the Seattle area also hire across product and design functions. Smaller outdoor and activewear brands clustered around the greater Seattle metro have filed OPT-compatible positions in recent hiring cycles, particularly in merchandising and supply chain roles.
Which cities in Washington have the most fashion & apparel F-1 OPT sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the clear majority of fashion and apparel OPT sponsorship activity in Washington, driven by its concentration of retail and outdoor-apparel headquarters. Bellevue and Redmond occasionally list roles tied to e-commerce and wholesale operations. Outside the greater Seattle area, fashion-specific sponsorship opportunities are limited, making the Seattle metro the practical focus for F-1 OPT job seekers in this industry.
What types of fashion & apparel roles typically qualify for F-1 OPT sponsorship?
Roles most commonly sponsored under F-1 OPT in Washington's fashion and apparel sector include merchandise planning analyst, product development coordinator, technical designer, buyer assistant, and visual merchandising specialist. These positions typically require a degree in fashion merchandising, apparel design, business, or a related field. Roles with a clear connection between the degree program and job duties tend to align most cleanly with OPT authorization requirements.

Are there any Washington-specific considerations for F-1 OPT sponsorship in fashion & apparel?
Washington employers in fashion and apparel are subject to state-level labor regulations that can affect how OPT positions are structured, including rules around paid internships and work authorization verification. Employers hiring F-1 OPT students must comply with E-Verify requirements if they are federal contractors. Washington's outdoor and activewear segment also tends to hire on seasonal project cycles, which can affect the practical duration and structure of OPT-authorized roles.
