Which companies sponsor visas for HVAC roles in Washington?
McKinstry, headquartered in Seattle, is one of the more active sponsors for mechanical and HVAC engineering positions in Washington. EMCOR Group, Comfort Systems USA, and Johnson Controls have also filed Labor Condition Applications for HVAC-related roles in the state. Larger mechanical contracting firms and facilities management companies tend to sponsor more consistently than small independent HVAC contractors.
Which visa types are most common for HVAC jobs in Washington?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for HVAC roles that require a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field, such as HVAC design engineers or building systems analysts. Trade-level technician roles without a degree requirement rarely qualify for H-1B sponsorship. Candidates with engineering credentials have the strongest footing for employer-sponsored visa petitions in this field.
How to find hvac visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters HVAC job listings in Washington specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you from manually screening postings that won't work for your situation. Search for HVAC roles in Seattle, Bellevue, or Tacoma on Migrate Mate to find mechanical engineering and HVAC systems positions with employers who have an active sponsorship track record in Washington state.
Which cities in Washington have the most HVAC sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Bellevue account for the largest share of sponsored HVAC and mechanical engineering positions in Washington, driven by commercial construction, hospital systems, and the concentration of tech campuses requiring sophisticated building systems. Tacoma and Redmond also have active hiring, particularly for facilities and data center HVAC roles. Eastern Washington cities like Spokane see occasional openings in commercial and industrial sectors.
Are there any state-specific considerations for HVAC visa sponsorship in Washington?
Washington requires HVAC contractors to hold state-issued licenses, and some roles require journeyman or specialty endorsements under the Department of Labor and Industries. For visa-sponsored positions, employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the specific HVAC role and geographic area. Seattle's high prevailing wages mean sponsored positions typically reflect competitive compensation benchmarks set at the metro level.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored hvac jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
