Which companies sponsor visas for program associates in Washington?
Several Washington-based employers have documented H-1B sponsorship histories for program associate roles. These include PATH (a global health nonprofit headquartered in Seattle), the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Microsoft, and Amazon. State and regional government agencies occasionally sponsor as well, particularly for public health and policy-focused positions. Sponsorship willingness varies by organization size, budget, and the seniority of the role.
Which visa types are most common for program associate roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa for program associate roles in Washington, particularly at nonprofits and tech-adjacent organizations where the position requires a relevant bachelor's degree in a specific field such as public health, international development, or business. Some roles at universities or research institutions may qualify for cap-exempt H-1B petitions. Candidates from Australia may also explore the E-3 visa as an alternative path.
Which cities in Washington have the most program associate sponsorship jobs?
Seattle accounts for the largest share of program associate sponsorship opportunities in Washington, driven by its concentration of global health organizations, tech companies, and nonprofits. Bellevue and Redmond also have relevant employers, particularly in the technology and corporate foundation space. Olympia has a smaller number of opportunities tied to state government and policy organizations. Most roles that offer H-1B sponsorship are concentrated in the greater Seattle metro area.
How to find program associate visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters program associate roles in Washington by visa sponsorship status, so you can focus on employers who have sponsored H-1B or other work visas for similar positions. This is more efficient than sorting through general job listings where sponsorship availability is often unstated. Migrate Mate's Washington listings draw from organizations in global health, technology policy, and the nonprofit sector, which represent the strongest hiring segments for this role in the state.
Are there state-specific factors that affect program associate sponsorship in Washington?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons under Department of Labor standards since take-home pay is higher relative to states with income taxes. The state's strong nonprofit and global health sector, anchored by organizations like PATH and the Gates Foundation, creates consistent demand for program associates with international development or public health backgrounds. University pipelines from the University of Washington also supply candidates who may already hold OPT work authorization.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored program associate jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
